The S.C. Rural Infrastructure Authority is committed to helping communities achieve long-term sustainability. Access to reliable and affordable infrastructure serves as an essential quality of life concern for protecting public health, improving environmental quality and encouraging economic opportunities.
This year, the agency will conduct an assessment of the sustainability needs of water and sewer systems statewide. An advisory committee of local, state and federal stakeholders has been established to guide this project. It will include a high level, multi-disciplinary look at the challenges and requirements for sustainability and an identification of the tools and programs that are needed in the future.
This fall, an infrastructure sustainability summit is planned to share the preliminary information collected and to obtain valuable stakeholder feedback. Look for more information on these efforts in the near future.
This project will encourage partnerships, build infrastructure capacity, and position South Carolina communities for economic success.
