The Town of Lockhart received a Basic Infrastructure grant to address an imminent environmental and health threat caused by a sanitary sewer overflow from a blockage in an old, deteriorated line adjacent to the Lockhart School. Due to the nature of the issue, the town worked expeditiously to replace the gravity sewer line that led to the overflow. It’s worth noting that Union County partnered with the town to help with interim assistance and identify a permanent solution. In addition to addressing the immediate need, the project also reduced the likelihood of future overflows along a main thoroughfare through town and provided more reliable service to individuals along the sewer line.
