Dillon County is home to one of only two inland ports in the state. Near the inland port is the publically owned Gateway Industrial Park which is home to Harbor Freight Tools. Harbor Freight – a major county employer with 850 jobs – proposed expanding with an $80 million capital investment and 400 new jobs. To facilitate this expansion, additional water, sewer and other infrastructure was needed. RIA provided a grant to assist with the water and sewer improvements. The S.C. Department of Commerce and county also contributed to this project.
