Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District

The Reclaimed Water Treatment Facility was built in 1971 by the Town of Cowpens before being turned over to Spartanburg Sanitary Sewer District (SSSD) about twenty years later. While the facility continued to be maintained, recent growth within the town and surrounding area – including the potential needs at the nearby Upstate Corporate Industrial Park – compelled SSSD to plan for significant upgrades to serve the community as well as improve treatment efficiency and capacity. This project will provide reliable wastewater treatment for 1440 current customers as well as future users for the next 40 years.
